What You’ll Learn

As we move towards 2009, Disaster Recovery Planning is the #1 strategic initiative for many IT organizations. There are many elements adding to the challenge:

  • Obtaining and keeping buy-in from the executive suite in wildly uncertain economic times
  • Accounting for evolving technologies and often-disruptive innovations like virtualization and deduplication
  • Figuring out how to build efficiencies into existing systems
  • Fighting perceptions that a DR plan is “nice to have”
  • Planning and executing testing procedures that ensure the plan will ultimately work

Amid all these moving parts, leading storage expert and disaster recovery planner extraordinaire Jon William Toigo will deliver 2 live presentations and answer your questions as he cover the following topics:

  • The business case for strategic continuity planning
  • New mission and tasks for the DR/BC planner
  • A functional overview of the planning process
  • A tested planning methodology
  • The central role of data management in strategic business continuity
  • The three elements of effective data protection strategy
  • Techniques for classifying the data asset
  • Techniques for protecting data in place and for replicating it for recovery: hype and hope
  • The role of intelligent archiving in business continuity
  • Challenges to (and solutions for) managing complexity in data protection and replication processes
  • Infrastructure “wrappers” and other failover strategies

Then Tom Duggan, Director of Technical Services, Recovery Networks, takes a deep dive into disaster recovery planning for virtual environments. With virtualization deployments happening all over, this presentation offer the chance to take a step back, evaluate what’s different and take appropriate steps to protect your systems and data.

Plus, you’ll hear about the latest DR technologies in short demo presentations from our sponsors.

The result is a day of extensive, current, practical information that you can use right away. Take a minute today to register and ensure your access to this special online experience!
